The first one proposed the notion of establishing a Medical College in Lucknow
in 1870. But due to the lack of funds the proposal was watered down. In 1905
King-Emperor's visit, George V, at the time Prince of Wales, spurred the
establishment of a college commemorating the occasion. Late Raja Sir Tassadnq
Rasul Khan of Jehangirabad, to whom Sir Harcourt Butler wrote on 1 December
1905, was the originator of this fine ideal to remember the occasion. "It
